There is no toy that gets the same amount of use again and again across the board of ages. We recently looked after our friends children, there were five ranging from four to ten years old, all of them found different ways of playing with them but all enjoyed them for hours.
Children can start from the age of one years old stacking them on top of each other, pulling them apart or finding places to stick them. As they increase in age they will find new ways of using them. Houses for dolls, tallest towers, bridges, haunted houses, flat animals, tracks for nano bugs (separate post for this here as they’re also an amazing toy) letters and even as my son demonstrated some shoes!

There are several different makes, we have these ones here that are great but I still am desperate to get my hands on some Connetix, with extra strong magnets you can make your builds much more adventurous.
I would say avoid the ones without middles as they never hold well. Buy as many as you can as the more you get the more advanced buildings children can make which brings longer lasting enjoyment. You literally won’t be able to resist joining in with building which only makes children love them even more, as what child doesn’t love their parent playing with them.
